How Supervision Can Help

Pastoral supervision can help you to consider new possibilities, gain perspective, clarity, understand your emotional responses and develop healthy boundaries.

Reflection allows us to question the stories we tell ourselves and open a way forward to growth by asking, “What is God doing in this situation/space? How can I faithfully respond?”

How often do I need to have supervision?

It depends on the requirements of your denomination, employer or professional association. Most supervision appointments are at four to six-week intervals (10 times a year), but it can be as little as four times a year.

More frequent sessions are recommended to provide the best supervisory experience and benefits.

What if the relationship is not working for me?

When we begin supervision, we sign an agreed contract stating the times we will meet, the rate of each meeting, and an agreement on the conditions around the relationship and ending the relationship well.

Who pays for my supervision?

It depends on the requirements and situation of each person. As Supervision is a professional expense, your church or denomination may agree to provide all or some of your financial responsibilities for supervision. We can provide an invoice directly to the nominated payee, or you can pay at your appointment.
