Balance-The Way to A Sustainable Ministry.
Balance
Good Mental Health is supported by balance. When serving and caring for others, it is easy to forget that you have limits and need care and rest. It is a physical, emotional and spiritual reality that we cannot keep exceeding our limits and not burnout.
Jesus set a great example to us to live in God’s rest. Having a day off every week is essential. Sabbath habits create a rhythm where we can rest, revive and restore our souls. Take a day to allow God to minister to you to intentionally turn your attention to God, to worship Him and lift your life and ministry to Him.
Make time on this day to socialise with family and friends, exercise, read or pursue a skill or hobby that has nothing to do with your work. Choose an activity you can become immersed in that relaxes you.
Exercise is vital for good mental health by stabilising your mood. Choose to exercise for 30-40 minutes every day. Find a form of physical movement you enjoy and put it in your calendar so other things don’t creep in and crowd it out.
Following a Sabbath rhythm of life will leave you feeling refilled, strengthened and refreshed, ready for the new week.
